As of April 14, 2008 the 2nd plebiscite in as many years has won the civil right of protection from poison in the water for the citizens of Dryden Ontario, Canada
An overwhelming 87% majority voted NO to fluoride - the population had voted 56% in FAVOUR of fluoride 2 years previous with NO information whatsoever about the possible dangers of fluoride, the fact that it really does NOT reduce tooth decay, it really is the addition of a toxic waste, not pharmaceuetical grade sodium fluoride or the naturally occuring calcium fluoride (not that they would be any better, or safer, but the cost would be prohibitive). No, an informed public did the right thing, and I am so proud of my fellow Drydenites just as they are in Juneau, Alaska where the Yes side spent about $170,000 in a huge campaign for the virtues of fluoride only to be beaten soundly by another grass-roots organization with about $7,000.
